Job interviews can be stressful, there’s no doubt about that. But even as a recruiter there are certain steps that are important to take in order to ensure that the interview process runs smoothly for both you and prospective candidates. At NP Recruitment, we outline a few tips to remember before conducting any future job interviews!
1. Sell Yourselves:
Remember that first impressions matter both ways. The way you present yourself is also a way you represent your company and the staff in it, so it is crucial you are an ideal reflection of your company’s image and what the company wishes to represent. What you wear, the body language you have and the attitude you put across matter just as much to a candidate as what their image is to you!
2. Preparation is key:
Again, we assume that doing your homework the night before a big interview is solely up to the candidate but that is not necessarily true. It is fundamental that employers know their stuff about the people they are interviewing. Show the candidate that you did in fact read and re-read their CV and Cover Letter because after all, you are getting to know the person and not only the work they do. Exhibiting your high level of preparation is also a landmark way to showcase your company’s professionalism. At the same time, candidates might have questions for you about the company, its ethos, the work environment, etc. Being able to answer those questions easily and effectively is crucial.
3. Anticipate the Competition
Chances are that this is not the candidate’s only job interview in a similar role, so it is important to try and set yourselves above the rest of the competition! Outline ways other than pay that this job is better than any other one out there by highlighting potential growth opportunities, fostering a welcoming environment, and focusing not only on the tasks of the job but also on the benefits there are to look forward to. Anticipating the competition does not mean trashing them, it just simply means finding ways to differentiate yourselves in a way that is advantageous to you.
At NP Recruitment, we understand the interview process can be an arduous one, but we are here to help you find the perfect candidate and provide you with the tools to nail that job interview – from the other side of the desk.
